James Pollack has over 40 years experience in the environmental field, which includes environmental management, engineering, manufacturing and consulting work. He has spent over 30 years working in the chemical manufacturing industry in a variety of environmental positions providing leadership and technical expertise. For the past 20 years he has worked with business groups and trade associations to address environmental issues in a proactive manner.

Since joining Omni Tech International, Ltd. in 2001, he has been actively involved providing environmental consulting and training services to a wide variety of clients. These services include training and auditing clients for the ISO 14001 Environmental Management Standard and the American Chemistry Council Responsible Care programs, DOT Hazardous Material training and managing Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) projects.

Jim was asked to represent the United Soybean Board on the USDA/NIST Biobased Advisory Group which was charged with gathering agricultural feedstock Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) data. This updated data was submitted to the NREL US LCI Database in 2003 and was used to perform LCAs for several soy-based commercial products. Jim presented the results at several conferences such as the Global Plastics Environmental Conference and the American Chemistry Society annual meeting in 2004. In 2008, Omni Tech updated the soybean agriculture and processing data to model four soy-based feedstocks and compare those to the petroleum-based alternatives. Omni Tech’s key role in that study was to gather mass balance data for all phases of the soy feedstock life cycle and put it into a format for modeling. This study was released in 2009 and results have been presented by Jim to national and international audiences.

Jim has a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from Purdue University and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is a Registered Professional Engineer since 1973.  Jim is also involved in a number of organizations including the Tri-County Economics Club, Great Lakes Bay Manufacturers Association, Michigan Society of Professional Engineers and Midland Barstow Airport Advisory Commission.
